Zac Power heading to the big screen with stellar cast

The bestselling Zac Power book series will take off in a new Australian animated feature film, produced by three of the country’s preeminent animation studios and featuring a cast of homegrown and international talent.

Flying Bark Productions (Stranger Things: Tales from ’85, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, 100% Wolf) has partnered with Cheeky Little Media (Kangaroo Beach, Ginger and the Vegesaurs) in association with Pixel Zoo (Rainbow World, L.O.L SURPRISE) to bring the teenage spy to life on the big screen.

Based on the book series from Hardie Grant Publishing, which has been published in 14 countries and sold more than 3.5 million books in Australia and New Zealand alone, Zac Power is a spy spoof brimming with action and comedy.

Leading the voice cast is Parker Little (The Bureau of Magical Things, Apples Never Fall) as teen superspy Zac Power in his first animated role. He is joined by BAFTA-winning comedian, actor, presenter and author Matt Lucas (Paddington, Doctor Who, Little Britain) as villain Kev the Conjuror, and actor, singer and songwriter Kylie Cantrall (Spidey and His Amazing Friends) as Mica.

The cast also features legendary Australian actors Leah Purcell (The Legend of Molly Johnson, Wentworth, High Country) and David Wenham (Peter Rabbit, Lord of the Rings), as well as Ed Oxenbould (Paper Planes, Puberty Blues) and presenter and author Tanya Hennessy.

The film follows Zac as he strives to maintain his position as the top teenage spy at GIB after the arrival of a new rival agent. After his recklessness allows a maniacal magician to steal a high-tech super weapon, he’s forced to confront his own flaws and team up with his rival – who harbours her own secrets.

Zac Power has received production assistance from the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF).

Zac Power is a Flying Bark and Cheeky Little Media production in association with Pixel Zoo Animation Studios. Major production investment from Screen Australia in association with the Australian Children’s Television Foundation (ACTF). ANZ distribution by Paramount Pictures.
